Frequently Asked Questions About Ridgetop Exteriors
Is there a warranty for the work you do?
Absolutely! In fact we offer multiple warranties—such as a 7 year Craftsmanship Warranty, a GAF Lifetime Performance Guarantee, a Weather Stopper System Plus or Golden Pledge Warranty, a Mastic Double-Lifetime Transferable Warranty, a Good Housekeeping Warranty—and more! Please ask us about all our warranty offers; we’d be happy to tell you all about them!
How do I know when it’s time to get a new roof?
Most roofs last between 20 and 25 years. Proper ventilation, and whether your current roof was installed over another layer can affect how soon you need a new roof as well. Missing shingles, or shingles that are curling or buckling, are signs that it may be time for a new roof. Shingle granules in your gutters are a warning sign, as roofs tend to lose more granules near the end of their life. Valleys are important too; snow and rain flow through them and into your gutters, and if they’re not working properly you could end up with roof leaks and water damage. Your chimney flashing could be another problem area that can lead to leaks. Moisture in your insulation, a bouncy or spongy feeling when you walk on your roof, or daylight coming through the roof boards could mean it’s time for a new roof. If you’re not sure whether you need roof repairs or it’s time for a new roof, don’t worry: We have worked on thousands of roofs before, and we’ll gladly do a free inspection!
Will new windows really lower my energy bills?
New windows could lower your energy bills by 15% a year, every year—and maybe even more if you choose Energy Star qualified windows. The truth is that new windows for your home eventually pay for themselves—and they also increase the value of your home. However, not every home needs new windows. There are tell-tale signs that it may be time to replace your home’s windows, and we would be glad to do a no-obligation free inspection, as well as explain the benefits that different types of replacement windows have. Just give us a call!
Does my siding need repairs?
Your home’s siding is designed to protect it from the hot sun, the bitter cold, wind, moisture—and it falls victim to the very things it’s designed to protect you from. Visible rot, crumble, cracks, gaps or mold mean that your siding needs attention. If there are drafts near your walls, windows or electrical outlets, or if your energy bills are getting increasingly higher, it may be time to inspect your siding even if it has no visible damage. Sometimes damage to your siding can be repaired, and sometimes it’s time to replace it. There are many great options, and some are better than others depending on where you live and what “look” you prefer. We can help you determine whether your siding needs a minor repair or an overhaul—and help you explore different options. Our estimate is free, so you have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain by giving is a call today!
Another roofing company didn’t even mention half the stuff you brought up—what’s the catch?
Unfortunately roofing companies grow like mushrooms, rack up a ton of Better Business Bureau complaints, and vanish just as fast. They won’t tell you about important things like ice damming or roof ventilation, and give you really cheap quotes for work that’s just that—cheap. They cut corners that save you pennies on the dollar but will cost you a fortune down the road (for example, by installing a new roof over the previous layer or by not bothering with insulation when they replace your siding). We’ve been in business for many years, have a stellar track record with the Better Business Bureau, and many awards for excellence and customer satisfaction. We’ll tell you what you need to know to make the right decision, whether you choose to work with us or not. Our integrity is why we’re a thriving, growing business. Give us a call, ask us for referrals of satisfied customers in your area, and you’ll find out first-hand!
How can you PROVE you do good work at a fair price?
We’re glad you asked! We’ve done thousands of projects like yours, and many of them have been right in your neighborhood! Our list of customers who will give us a referral is as thick as a small book. We can give you the list and have you pick a name—any name—near your own home, so you can call and ask someone who’s truly your neighbor how satisfied they were with Ridge Top. Yes, we’re that confident they’ll give us a glowing review. It’s for the same reason we get glowing reviews on Angie’s List, Google, and other sites: We really do top-quality work at a fair price, and stand by our work. Give us a call and get a free estimate—and as many referrals as you like!
You say you offer a lot of choices, but that can be overwhelming! How can I narrow them down?
We offer as many choices as we do because each homeowner’s idea of a “dream home” is not the same! We have high quality products that vary in style, function, and budget—and we know that sometimes the choices can be overwhelming. But we’re not the type to hand you a giant binder or a stack of papers and wish you luck at sorting it all out: We’re here to work with you; we’ll ask questions to figure out what you need, what you love, and how much you want to spend, and we’ll help you narrow down the options. Our experts will explain the pros and cons of each product, and will gladly show them to you up close at our showroom, so you can see, touch, and feel them before you make a decision. Our job is not done unless and until you’re delighted with your home, so rest assured there’s no question we can’t answer and no problem we can’t help you solve. To start the conversation, and for a no obligation home inspection and estimate, give our friendly staff a call!
My roof may be old, but it looks fine; isn't it a waste of money to replace it if it's still good?
Of course it’s a waste of money to replace a roof that’s still good—so the question is whether a roof that “looks fine” actually is! There’s a reason why roofs have a life span: Wind storms, driving rain, frost, ice, excessive heat, all take a toll on. If you park a brand new car outdoors and leave it there for twenty years, neither the exterior nor the interior will look or feel new in the end; a roof is no different. Materials deteriorate over time, the likelihood of leaks increases, and small problems you can hardly see can turn into big headaches down the road. Sometimes your roof just needs nothing at all, sometimes minor repairs will do, and sometimes it needs to be replaced altogether; our experts will not just tell you whether your roof has issues but actually show you, and explain the range of possible solutions. Waiting until something bad happens is not unlike waiting to have a car accident before you buy car insurance; by then it’s too late! Besides, Ridge Top Exteriors will inspect your roof for free, and will give you a no obligation estimate for repairs or replacement—so you have absolutely nothing to lose!
